How would I listen to music, youtube vids, etc. on my headset? like use them as speakers?

When I plug mine in all the noise automatically goes to them and not speakers.

I can't get it to play through them, I am using a wired xbox controller with a headset plugged in, it recognizes it, but everything plays through the speakers

That's because the Xbox headset is voice-only.
