It might be your monitor

because I had the same problem, and we bought a new 20" Monitor, and Fraps started working fine, (but it did record outside voices too :/)

The drivers are installed correctly and it's the motherboard soundcard.

set sound driver to use its drivers and bypass speakers. then have fraps listen to the output

Sorry for being a pain but how do I do that?

go to control pannel and sound settings and set the output to something else.

Open your volume control, find the recording properties. Make sure "Stereo Mix" or "Wave In" is enabled, then it should work. If you can't find either, your sound card does not support recording from the speakers.
