Author Topic: General Mapping  (Read 1422 times)

I have tried scripting and modeling (and learned a bit of each) etc but I've never tried mapping. I've had the feeling that mapping programs cost money, and wanna find out. I was just wondering if you guys can just explain the general procedures, what programs are used and if they cost money. That would be very helpful.

no just get the mission editor to work and tada

How to make maps:
Use the Mission Editor for working on the terrain for your map, Or install the mission editor the old fashioned way. When you have installed this, Go in-game in your own server and press F11 to open the mission editor, Fool around with it and you'll understand it.

Interiors:
Use Torque Constructor to make interiors for your map. Finish your interior, Then export as legacy dif when you're done with your interior. Then place them in a location like, Example: C:/Program Files/Blockland/Add-Ons/Map_Yourmapname, Start up Blockland, Press F4 and then search for your interiors. Click your interior and it should spawn, If your interior is black when you spawn it, Press ALT+L to fix that. It resets the lighting.
Note: You have to signup for a garagegames account to get Torque Constructor. It's free and all.

Things to help you get started:

Do not release your first map until you get better.
