My friend was using the computer at school (Apple, old Ibook G4)  and all of a sudden something came up saying " Please shut down the computer ...blah blah blah"
It repeated it in 2 diffrent languages. Does this mean...something?

I do think it was since it put everything back and popped and made the rest of the screen a trans gray

What is it caused by though? Battery Failure? Hard Drive? WHAT I ask, WHAT

Is this, perhaps, what you're talking about?

If so, then either your computer has a problem (motherboard failure, HDD failure, RAM failure...) (less likely), or you need to reinstall Mac OS X.
