Can't portfoward with a modem :C

I haven't been able to host a server because for some reason, when i put the default gateway address into the address bar nothing happens. If you know what the problem is please help and the default gateway address is 192.168.1.100 or 192.168.1.1

If you have a modem without a router that means your computer is directly connected to the internet and all port requests are automatically sent to your computer so you shouldn't have to port forward at all.

Unless you have some handicapped network configuration whereby one PC  with the modem shares the internet connection over the network - then it gets messy.
