Actually, no it isn't aired in US (Minnesota at least anyways). This coming from a guy who watches Discovery often for Mythbusters and never once seen a commercial for this and also lives a couple hundred miles south of Canada. It's all done by local sites responsible for major programming for the benefit of the station. It is a common misconception though. :)
