Author Topic: Some Detailed Sketches Done at School (Posing kind of Sucked)  (Read 803 times)

I had to fix the second one, because I scanned it on a bad angle. They took me each about an hour, so I figured they're worth their own thread (especially because I'm going to be doing this all the time, and probably will update this weekly)

^That one was my first drawing with my new ballpoint pen :3

^This was drawn with the same pen, with no inspiration, and bad posing. I then shaded it with pencil.

Meh. For a ball point pen, the shading could have been done so much better. The first drawing isn't that detailed, and the second is clusterforget. Other than that, they are ok, I guess.

The second got out of focus because of the scanner, and the quality I had it set as :P but I can agree with you. The shading was pretty bad, but that's why the file's "robodoodle.jpg" =P

Either way, no excuse for a lazy hand.

Ballpoint pens are so meh. Get a good one at the very least, but if you want to do good ink drawings get a fountain pen :D

I did a really fast redraw of your first robut with my fountain pen.

not nearly as good as yours but you get the idea.

I actually hold my pencil/pen/writing utencil incorrectly, so ballpoint pens are where it's at for me. I have fountain pens but I have issues with using them (my hand rests on the paper, it smudges really really bad--and it bleeds through 90% of the time) so, I'm gonna be stuck with ballpoint pens. And, I have a good one. :3 It's a doodle, so, I can't really say I tried super hard on that one.
Edit: That first robot is actually supposed to be that dude I had in Stranded/Robot Character Design. You can find them here:

My fountain pen actually bleeds less than a ballpoint, and they don't smudge if you don't put your hand directly over where you just wrote.

I do that. :P
I could take a picture of how I hold my pencil/pen whatever. xD
