Author Topic: Is this laptop good?  (Read 691 times)

I dunno.
My college thingy gave us all laptops... well not gave us... we had to pay a stuffload of money to the college, and got this in return, standard issue for every student.
Dell Precision with Windows 7
4gig ram (Is that a little or medium or alot)
DDR3 1333 MHz (not sure what this means)
I think it has two video cards, NVIDIA Quadro FX 3800M  or soemthing
and it also says something about an AMD ATI Firepro M7740
I dunno the Hard disk space.
I don't even know if that stuff is correct up above...
Whatever its probably better than my desktop that I got from walmart. :P

Go to My Computer, and right click Properties. Take a screen shot of that and post it here.

4 Gigabytes of RAM is kind of a lot, I think.
Same as mine, I can explode 50 explosive barrels at the same time without even the smallest glimmer of lag :'D

That has nothing to do with RAM.

Processor is an intel core i7 CPU Q720 @ 1.60 GHz
Whatever that means
64bit windows 7
148 Gig hard drive

it also doesnt make any noise unless there is a CD in there... like if I run Maya or photoshop, not even a humm.

Oh btw I have to play L4D2 on it so if any yall wanna play then yay, it will have to be on a seperate steam ID than my regular one though, but ah wells

A Core i7 1.6 GHz isn't that bad. It's a quad core with hyper threading.

But an Nvidia AND ATI chip in one laptop? I don't even.

ATi for your main GPU and the nVidia one for PhysX perhaps?

But I don't see the point as it doesn't seem to be a gaming laptop.

A Quadro doesn't seem like a laptop really used for PhysX. I think its a workstation chip.

I dunno, this thing is supposed to do me for all my modeling and art things and flash and games.
