The monitor, the keyboard, the mouse, and the speakers can all be used with my new computer.

That motherboard, processor and RAM are incompatible with each other.

How can I tell and/or fix it?

I'd say just get a DIY kit, like this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.328465

You'll need to buy a graphics card seperate, as that DIY kit doesn't have one. Get an EVGA card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130440

Specs are:
AMD Phenom II X4 3.0 GHz quad-core processor
GIGABYTE AM2/AM2+/AM3 motherboard, DDR2 RAM OC support
OCZ 700 watt power adaptor
Kingston HyperX DDR2 1066 MHz RAM, 4 GB
Western Digital Caviar Black 1 TB (1000 GB) 7200 RPM HDD
EVGA GeForce 9800 GT 1 GB GDDR3 PCI-E 2.0

It'll come out to about $700. If you prefer Intel or ATi instead of AMD and nVidia, I could find another kit for you.

Wow thanks. I didn't even know they had DIY kits. Also I'm not real picky about anything, really. As long as it does what I want it to do.

I updated it a little bit, found a graphics card that would perform better, most likely. The price raised about $30, though, and is almost near the $700 margin.

That's fine. I actually have about 100-200 dollars extra for any games or other things I might want to buy to go with it.

It's strange your current machine doesn't run TF2. My old PC had a single core Athlon 1.8GHz, and an nVidia 6150, and could run l4d which is more intensive.

My computer CAN run tf2, but it runs at like 4 fps or something ridiculous and unplayable. But I also have other games I'd like to play and this computer has about 20gb of hard drive space left, so a new computer was in order soon anyways.

20 is not a valid amount
you need like 100 if you game like i do

Alienware FTW
Won't fit his budget.
Remember, he has only $700 and only $100 to spare if it goes over.

Well, I've gotten the information I needed from this topic. If I need anymore help I'll bump it.

Locked.
