Author Topic: drivers update will not work  (Read 408 times)

blockland was running fine unitl i got windows 7, now everything is screwd up.
BL wont start and it says i have to update drivers but that doesnt work either.
(my comp. volume is dead too)
WHY? :(

Okay, we need a little information first.
What drivers?
Does your sound work?
Does your graphics card work?

I'm presuming when you say it doesn't work you mean Windows cannot find it on the 'net.

Follow the tutorial. Then restart your computer.

now that you mention it my sound doesnt work either.

ok, so i play BL and it crashes saying i need to update my drivers. the i follow the tutorial but i dont have a download option. i have the 915gm (something like that)
and on the downloads it has two options and none of them give me the new update.

Well, okay.
When you install Windows, you either format or upgrade.
It usually decimates your drivers.

If your computer has CD's that came with it for drivers, then use those. For example, mine does. I have one for my Nvidia graphics card which allows it to work.

If not, then you probably got a pre-baked system from a store. What is the 915gm?
I'll need specific info here.

Assuming your drivers are all gone, we need:
-Graphics Card Make and Model
-Sound Card Make and Model
-Printer (if you have one) Make and Model.
The rest ought to take care of itself, for now.

I am assuming you have internet, as we're chatting.
Windows Update is okay for finding a few choice drivers, but, wholly, it doesn't do too good of a job sometimes. So likely you'll have to go to individual vendor's websites and get your drivers from there.

well, this is as far as i got.

i can download one of those but i dont know which. Its my model laptop updates.

and...

http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/CS-020149.htm

my model driver. when i click one of the downloads, it doesnt give me a button to download.

Assuming the VGN-FS980 is your laptop, you need to get:

 Audio (Sound) - 1 file(s)
 BIOS - 1 file(s)
 CD/DVD Drives - 3 file(s)
 Click to DVD® - 2 file(s)
 Firmware - 1 file(s)
 Image Converter - 1 file(s)
 LocationFree™ Player for PC software - 1 file(s)
 Memory Card - 1 file(s)
 Memory Card Reader/Writer - 1 file(s)
 Memory Stick - 1 file(s)
 Modem - 1 file(s)
 Motherboard - 1 file(s)
 Network - 2 file(s)
 Notebook Control and Utilities - 2 file(s)
 SonicStage® Software - 5 file(s)
 Sony Applications (various) - 3 file(s)
 System Components - 3 file(s)
 Touchpad - 1 file(s)
 VAIO Media Software - 2 file(s)
 VAIO Update - 2 file(s)
 Video - 1 file(s)
 Wireless - 2 file(s)

all of that.
Ignore the windows ones. You have a new windows.

With the Intel thing, it should provide you with a button to check if you're up-to-date. Hit that.
