Author Topic: What's the difference between 1 second and 1 sec?  (Read 884 times)

No, sorry, this thread has no punch line, it was an actual question.

Why are you and why do you have XC's avatar?

Sec is both a trigonometric ratio and short for 'second'. So, not much.
Basically, its slang.

Trigonometrically, sec x = 1/(cos x) and (sec^2 x) = 1 + (tan^2 x)
Hope that helps.

That's really weird, since they mean the same in that context. A sec can also be used to indicate a short amount of time, but I think second can be as well.

xC had a name-change to Eksi.

I see. Sorry XC.
But that is weird.

I didn't mean secant, but nice explanation anyway.

I'm just wondering why one comment says (1 second ago) and one comment says (1 sec ago). I thought the image made the question self-explanatory.
