You can only get sick off of cookie dough that was made freshly with raw eggs, which CAN carry salmonella, HOWEVER the chances of contracting it are low, and even if you do, chances are good your immune system neutralizes it anyway.

Whenever I buy cookie dough I never really get around to baking it, not much of a point because raw cookie dough tastes much much better to me.
