Author Topic: Another ridiculous project from Wallet  (Read 1377 times)

This time it's an idle "game" like Progress Quest. You build and hang out with friends (or do nothing) and over time an imgainary person will gain MMO loots.

I hope to put in ways to interact and sway the decisions of your little simulated RPG friend, but for now it's just watch-and-wait. If you want to come onto my server and try it out (you should probably make sure my server is up before you even bother), the download link is here:

edit: oh yeah you'll need to bind the GUI in contorl options btw.

edit: oh btw this only works on my server right now, and your buddy sleeps while you're not connected... hence the 32 player limit. Come in and idle, I don't mind.  :cookieMonster:

edit: oh one more thing give me money looooool
but no seriously I wanted to mention, a lot of people ask about the loot: it's just junk, wait for your buddy's backpack to fill and then he'll go to town to sell it and buy gear.

You can't share private files like that. You have to individually add every person's RTB account to the permission list. Right now you are the only person on the list. People without RTB accounts won't be able to download at all since a login is required.

Please add:

The category you've uploaded it to is reporting an error that it needs a server.cs file. Put it in "Client-Side Mods" since it is one.

You should let players without the mod use the game via chat or print messages if it doesn't already. (I can't see any kind of server-client confirm function in there)

oh i remember this

You could make popups (in the style that the IRC does when someone messages you) when he does something, or is deciding on whether or not to do something. So then the user could influence the buddy's decision, based on how well the user and the buddy interact, and how badly he wants to go through the decision.
For example, he really likes red shirts, and there is an expensive one that costs 56003 gold, but it isn't very effective. You could try to tell him to not buy it.

I hope to put in ways to interact and sway the decisions of your little simulated RPG friend, but for now it's just watch-and-wait.

I was giving suggestions as to how to interact with them.

nvm i just realized you changed the link

For the curious among you:

Most of the work so far has been creating a robust system that allows easy content editing and creation. The idea here is that each server can have its own unique game world; you join the server, start a buddy, and that buddy will live in a totally unique world, with different classes, zones, monsters, items, etc. than other servers. The goal is to have this content as easy as possible to add/edit without a lot of scripting knowledge, and let content creators put in special rules with relative ease (e.g. mages can't wear heavy armor, warriors can't use magic items like wands).
