Author Topic: Is this a decent graphics card?  (Read 5055 times)

I saw this review on Newegg: "Great speed, very quiet, amazing details in games and videos! I am now able to run all of my games at high or maximum graphics settings. Was weary at first of a re-certified item, but I'm very glad I bought this card. Definitely worth $25 dollars, couldn't have gotten a better deal anywhere else. Can't wait to put this thing to its full potential!"

This makes me nervous about the legitimacy of the reviews of the GTX260 I just bought that also say I can run all of my games on high or max settings.

Edit: after reading reviews and seeing how cheap it is, I might buy this and pop it into my current computer. It runs off mobo power and looks pretty good. Thoughts?
Problem: Recertified.

It's three times as cheap but it's probably going to break sooner.

I'm not looking for a long-term solution though. It would be nice to have a better graphics card in my current computer (I have a Radeon HD 3450) and for $25 I really don't care if it only lasts two months.

Not sure when that review was written but any current game (3 years) could not be easily run on that card. Especially on high settings.

Hey,

to answer your question right now. no your computer cannot handle that graphic card.

Your power supply is to low. Aswell shoving that in there with only 1gig of ram is kinda pointless... you need to upgrade your ram aswell.

But the card won't work properly, infact it'll probably shut your computer down a bunch.

You need a power supply of 450w or more :).

It was actually written yesterday :o

On my 3450, I can run Burnout Paradise, Assassin's Creed, L4D2, Mirrors Edge and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky. None of them very well, but I can run them. I imagine the 9500 could run those a little bit better?

I really wouldn't say so. It'd probably maybe a little tiny bit better.

Not enough to be worth the hassle and money?

nope

That card is not very good. Reviews are not a good way to render a product's performance. That could have come from someone who previously had an integrated card from 6 years ago who decided to run TF2 or CS: S.

I see. Thanks.

On a 9500GT? I'm calling bull.
It can.
With 5fps? Seriously?

It runs at 60 fps. It's not that bad at all.

It can. It's not really that bad.Not a single framerate drop.
I'm not saying it's bad but there's no way it can handle those games at high.

Well, it did run those games with pretty good graphics. I'll go check when I come to my friend's house again..

Confirmed. It was on medium on BC2, sorry for my mistake.

However, he runs JC2 and MW2 on high. It was actually smooth.
Bullstuff.
It does d00d.
