Author Topic: Blockland and Windows 7 x64  (Read 4676 times)

I'm going to try to install Blockland tomorrow, but I have a few questions.

I've heard of some problems that Blockland has on Windows 7/Vista, and on 64-bit systems.  I've seen people say "install directly to C:/Blockland, and not Program Files".

What's the dealio?  Will it even work?  Any particular things I must do to make it work?

So far, I've had no problems with every game I've installed when they are installed in Program Files, as long as I run it as administrator.  Do I still need to make an exception for Blockland, and not install it in Program Files?

Has anyone else gotten Blockland to work on Windows 7 x64?  What methods did you use to get it to work?

Hopefully I can get back into the swing of things by tomorrow, but I don't really want to spend a day troubleshooting this, so thanks in advance if you can help me.

The update does not delete your saves or add-ons:
----If your saves or add-ons disappear, it is because you are using Vista or Win7 with UAC enabled and Blockland installed to the "Program Files" directory.  In this situation, any file Blockland writes is re-directed by the OS into the "virtual store".  When the Blockland exe changes, it gets a new virtual store folder and therefore can't find the old saves.  Your options are:
    A: Disable UAC
    B: Install to C:\Blockland

not directly talking about reinstalling but general same rules apply

It runs fine on mine, Windows 7 64-bit. I did install directly to C:/Blockland, and not program files, and it works great. Only problem I have is having to go through this process to get some keys to work, it keeps reinstalling.

Making addons work is the same for any operating system...

Also, it does not really matter where you install Blockland. It have W7 and it works fine for me.

You can install it in program files if you want, but if you don't run as administrator, you might have some problems. Installing in C is just easier for most people.

I moved my blockland from my c drive because of that stupid crap windows did.
Make my pc simpler my ass. More like make my pc hide things from me

I got 64-bit and I don't have any problems near.

I had a laptop with Windows 7 for a week or so before sending it back for about 99 problems but a Blockland ain't one.

Yeah, that's what I've found with other games.  Call of Duty 4, I originally ran it normally, get to rank 37, run it as administrator, and it removes all of my settings/profiles and makes a real copy, instead of that "virtual store" stuff.  So, from then on, I always run every game as administrator first.

Well, if it's like any other game in that respect, I'll just install it to Program Files.  It'll make it easier for myself and my OS.

I cannot deny my love for Windows 7.  It is much better than I expected.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your help.

Truth here. I'm W764bit and it works fine.

I'd agree with you here. Except I just want a DX11 card instead of a DX10.1 card :(

Muahaha, I have an ATI Radeon 5970.  Dual-GPU, triple monitor DX11 glory!

ATI Radeon 5970.  Dual-GPU
Do want. I had to replace my 2GB ram with 4 GB when I got W7, such a memory hogger, but I guess vista is worse about this.
