That's still wrong though. v1.01 and all the versions after it were publicly available and sold and if he was running a version that didn't auto-update he could still have it.

Really? I thought Retail beta was the blend of vanilla and retail and only beta testers were allowed to use it and then v7 was released

The retail beta wasn't v1.01. It used it's own versioning system similiar to the current system and the last beta before release was v27 or 32 or something like that, I don't remember.

Edit: Last beta was v40 then it skipped to RC2.
