The Earth's rotation time is really 23.56 hours not 24, but in a few thousand years it will be 24 due to Earth's rotation slowing down.
At Earth's early stages of existence, it rotated so fast that there were only 2 hours of sunlight and 2 hours of darkness

Like a top, as the Earth's rotation slows down, it begins to wobble from side to side (we have already seen this happen massively with Venus which has wobbled its position to 170° -aka nearly 180 which would be upside down-) and it makes a full wobble every 27,000 years at this point, so in 13,000 years the North Star will not point north because the axis of Earth has already shifted away from it and it may have to be temporally renamed to the South Star.
