Okay, I see lots of amazing builds. The Gallery is full of them. I have lots of great ideas. But when I attempt to build, I can't get anything good. I don't know how to build to resemble certain scenery, for realistic effects, for good buildings, and lots more. I suck at it, even though I know what to build.

What tips do you have for building good?

I'm not too great myself, but you should have something that sticks out a bit, and give it some edge.

Make things up as you go along. Don't base builds; let them develop themself.

Relax, put on some music you like, and drink lots of root beer (or your favorite drink)


Then, let the build flow naturally.

It's also a nice idea to visit high-use servers and see some new building styles.
Not only can you get a lot of inspiration, you also start to think about how to build something in a different way with different bricks.
I occasionally visit Badspot's Lag Party to find some new ideas. But it's allways good to go to other server's that specialize in other building styles and genre's.

Try using some ramps if you want to give it some detail. But thats for exterior. Interior is all on your own.

When I start building I just remember cool things from other things I saw and then I just build and make things up as I go a long. Remember when you were a kid and could build spaceships and castles out of Lego's in like a day or two? Sure they didn't look to good due to mismatching colors and limited pieces, but still remember how easy it was just to build from nothing? Well if you can find that in yourself while you build I think it will help you. Just let your imagination flow, and don't be afraid to try out new ideas.

True. But it wouldn't make you cool just to copy someone's style of building. Imagine, a person builds a house; and the other person builds the same looking house but in different color and fewer detail.
