hi i need some help moving new sounds into the windows media folder.

the files i am trying to move are new log on/log off and shutdown sounds. I open the folder and drag my new sounds into the media folder.
As i expected it said would you like to copy and replace. I said yes, after that a box opened up saying "you need permission to perform this action"

It has two options try again or cancel. I try again nothing happens so how can i move these files to there i have made a back up of them so if anything bad happens i can revert.

Also i am the only user on the computer (my own laptop) and I am the administrator.

Any help would be great have you done this before?

Log off/Shutdown sound

log on sound
probably my best help topic ever

Don't replace them, that isn't how you do it.

Just add them.
Then look around for sound settings, and eventually you should find the options for startup/shutdown sounds.

Did you even read the video description?

It says you need to modify a dll to change the startup sound.

i found the sounds now to work out how to change them because the logon sound is not there

You can change the sounds without replacing the old sounds. There should be some personalization options like in Vista that allow you to choose which sounds you want to use. Try right-clicking your desktop.
