Author Topic: forget yes. Tom got a Fatal1ty sound card.  (Read 813 times)

The story is, I got Windows 7 64bit over the weekend, and I found out my 10 year old Sound Blaster 16 PCI was unsupported in 64-bit Windows. I started to look at sound cards and was lucky enough to buy a rocketfish x-fi knock-off.

When I walk into Best Buy, I was loving amazed what was on the top shelf for an unbelievable price. The card is worth $150.00 but I got it for $89.99.

This thing is lovey looking.

Gonna install it right now.

So, discuss this awesome-ness. :D.

It's sound. You don't need much more than integrated. :I

My integrated pooped out. I actually shorted out the internal and blew my power supply at one point.

I have a fatal1ty headset, it's really nice except for the fact that it has an unbelievable amount of random feedback in games.

Asus actually makes better sound cards than Creative, in fact Asus sound cards are some of the best consumer level models on the market. Creative sound cards are pretty junky at this point. They were pretty much the only major brand of sound cards for a period of time so they were the only choice; that reputation is the only thing that keeps them in business as their technology, design, and quality control has stagnated compared to other companies who have joined or rejoined the sound market.

Hell, the no frills $30 Turtle Beach sound card is better than what Creative puts out.

So what I'm saying is that you got ripped since there are much higher quality Asus sound cards for around the same price point that you payed. Your card will work of course, but if you're already paying $90 for something like that why not get the much better one?

I was thinking about getting an Asus, but all they had were Rocketfish or Creative. I have a 25 dollar gift card for Best Buy, so I needed to use it anyways.

Oh.
YouTube blew up my power supply. Twice.
