Author Topic: CPU Suddenly Hits 100% at Boot  (Read 959 times)

Whenever I boot my computer, it hits 100% CPU and stays there.  I don't think I have any virues, because I have a live protection AV I just updated.

Too many things at startup, most likely.

Get rid of them using msconfig.

antiviruses scan when you start your computer up dummy

Could be programs auto-starting when you boot your computer up. It could also be malware but not likely? If you're really paranoid scan your computer with avast and adaware.

Like Keonesan, programs starting up at the boot.
My sister has lots of programs start up during boot, that takes up %75 of my CPU.
So I close them down and it goes back down to %1.

I don't know why it would stay there. Just scan your computer. A virus might have slid through your defences.

I end the processes, but it's still at 100 percent.

I guess I'll just reformat, I already have important stuff backup'd.

When my computer goes to 100% and stays there, I reboot it. Simple as that.

The first thing I'd do is check the processes tab of task manager and see what's taking up all your CPU's horsepower.

I recently had to remove one of my hard drives because it was overheating and caused my CPU to stay at 100%.
