Author Topic: My [S]ventrilo server[/S]servers in general aren't working!  (Read 712 times)

Yes, I know BBcode doesn't work in subjects.

So, it all started when I tried to host a http server from my computer using apache. Failure. I couldn't connect, and I had trouble getting through the menus.
Then, repeatedly I tried to get a FTP server working. Worked great on my wii through homebrew, but my computer? Nope. I could connect through the client to the wii, but nothing could connect to the computer. 4 times I tried this.

So now I get the impulse to try a vent server. I have successfully hosted BYOND servers and Blockland servers, Teamviewer "servers", VNC server.... but ventrilo dumbfounded me. Noone can connect to the external IP address. My phone is my 'router', but it needs no port forwarding, all ports are open.
tl:dr, my vent server isn't working, nor is ftp or http.
I'm running windows XP and I've tried with and without my firewall up.
The default one that is.
What I get when I start up the server:

I have no idea what "Ventrilo" is. Could someone please enlighten me?

Rather then makeing stupid posts you could use google

Are you sure you don't need to portfoward?

Positive. I've run blockland and BYOND servers sucessfully since I switched from a conventional router.

The server is supposed to be at 173.117.58.121
But no one can connect. I can connect through localhost/127.0.0.1, and my local ip, but not through 173.117.58.121

I can even host a loving http server off my goddamn phone, but I can't run a single lousy ventrilo server off my computer?
Heres proof along with a related picture.
-snip-, it's in the op.

So...Ventrilo is...Sound over internet? ._.

Basically. AKA voip
Do you happen to have any ideas? Otherwise, feelfree to keep bumping this.

hamachi
Are you saying thats the problem, or thats what we need to do?
Because I can't exactly walk into a blockland server, announce I have a ventrilo server at [insertiphere] and say that, oh wait, it needs hamachi, SORRY!

When a server doesn't work, its either firewall, or port forwarding settings. At the moment, I can't think of anything else it could be.
So if you're absolutely sure it's not your firewall, there are many free programs that will test if your ports are opened properly, try one of them. If it still doesn't work, then yes you do need to port forward.

loving android phone doesn't loving port forward
