Is there any way to export songs off Itunes?

I want to use songs on my itunes for something, but the only way i know of exporting them ends in them being saved in a format where nothing can read them.

There isn't, that I know of.
I'm sure there is, but I don't know of one.

Some MP4's have some encryption that make them impossible to read by anything but iTunes, however these have a lock in the MP4 symbol.

The other ones are usable and convertable.
