Author Topic: Flawed, Partial Opening to a Game I made up  (Read 367 times)

My friend kept saying how Amnesia is the first game to scare her, so I read the Wikipedia article on it. Then I got bored, so I wrote the below to one of my other friends. It's a flawed, minor backstory (and partial starting story) of a videogame I was making up in my head as I typed. It's terrible.

*Time to scare you stuffless :-O Making up story time, give me a few minutes
*The dream world is nothing to fear. You are told such things as a child, of course. Nightmares. But for some, the inescapable horror is all too real. And for a select few... they never return to the waking world.

As an average day, distant relatives of distant lands send a gift. A odd gift, of handmade rope and other materials, comprising an odd charm of sorts. Just to hold it had some aura of which disturbed you to your core. Still, you naturally would not rid yourself of something in assumable good intent. A note accompanying it reads "This to you, may it bring you better than us, or to rid it therefore." Half cryptic, but not the oddest note you've ever received, you head to bed that night, the object nearby on the dresser.

The night became terrifying as you have dreams witnessing horrific events of some foreign land, hearing long dialogs and vivid actions not of normal dreams. You awake by morning in sweat and tears and know instantly something is wrong. You recognize a name in the dream... the name of one whom sent you the gift... You decide to find out more, discovering that a series of odd

*events ending in horrific deaths during the night. Connecting this to the gift, and of course knowing of many other stories and tales, even fictional, recounting such events, you look for information on this object you received.

But you make a fatal mistake.

On a train to a relative whom might know more, your eyes close... sleep pursues... the nightmares begin... but they're even more vivid... more real... you can smell it... You realize you are actually somewhere... You are in that foreign land, perhaps years before... during the deaths. Perhaps time travel? Perhaps memories so strong... But all you know is the uneasy feeling of being watched... Never the less, you head to the location of the first death, quickly awaking her before she could drift to the next world. Through talks, you discover of a creature that had been captured in an object many years before, whom could transfer you through time... to kill you, the body only returning as the monster returns to the object. At that moment, the building begins to creak. Something breaks through a window in another room... screams
*heard... The door bangs... You escape with her, running, not looking back... She cries... Her parents, likely dead...
*:P I'll end it there
*XD
*I don't know, I lost it
*Nightmares, dreams
*When you sleep, the first time you see it's past murders, then you go there yourself to die
*It utilizes time travel of yourself to consume the soul, freed in the past... maybe some detection avoided through being in a different time before expected
*Ah yes, and protectors against it, whom only may come even weeks after arrival of the monster once detected... To capture it in a more secure place... to be destroyed...
*It'd be a good way of committing murders for something supernatural
*It can be detected by seekers when outside the object, which it can't stray far from...
*But to reach through time itself to get those who wield it and perhaps obtain objects of the time to use for complete escape...

I wouldn't use the word, "Horrifying" simply because many people have a different vision of horrifying and does not add any visual ideas to the readers.  Other than that is sounds interesting.

Well, I couldn't compose it any better now. My mind is corrupted by starting to watch The Wizard of Oz. She just left the Munchkin town. Meeting the scarecrow.
