Author Topic: I didn't notice youtube had captioning :o  (Read 728 times)

For example, this video has closed captioning.
Call me an old macgeezaahamlettodororito, but I just found this out today.

For those who actually never knew this, click the CC button, then click translate audio.

The translations it gives out are extremely funny, because most of them are wrong.

So did you already see this or not? I'd also like to know how people set captions on their videos, or if it's just random or whatever.

I set them sometimes for a quick laugh

nintendo games wide
ROCK
movies based on intelligence law

Its crap. Just saying. Only good for a laugh.

It listens to what the audio is and tries to make words out of it.
It's not crap unless you can do better.

No, its crap. If it can't transcribe clear audio, its not good enough. Because it doesn't serve its purpose.

Does anyone else make such a thing that works better?

I've seen the button before, but I never knew it'd translate the audio (or attempt to). If it can, why don't all videos get it?

I tried Words, Words, Words and Oh Bo by Bo Burnham. Neither have the option.

Irrelevant. Doesn't stop it from being a useless tool.
