Author Topic: Need some help with a birthday request  (Read 455 times)

Alright, so I'd really like my parents to get me an Ipad 2 for my birthday. My birthday is on April 20. I got my first, and only computer in 2007 (actually Christmas of '06) and it's a first gen white macbook with less than stellar specs. It's coming to the end of its life, but it should be able to last another year or two.

Because my laptop is still functional, I don't really need a new one but I'm hungry for a new toy. Haven't gotten a damn thing since '06 and I've been making do.

So here's where you come in: Can any of you think of some good ways to convince my parents to get me an Ipad 2 for my birthday? Here's what I can think of already:

-Good substitute for a new laptop, but still useful after i get a new one eventually
-Cheaper, not asking for the best model or anything
-In case my laptop breaks or something, since it's gettin kinda crappy, I wouldn't have to worry about dishing out my entire savings for a new computer
-Once Ipad 2 is outdated, or right before Ipad 3 is released, I can sell it for a good chunk of money to buy a newer model

Can you think of anything else?

tl;dr Want an ipad 2 because I can't get a new laptop right now. If it seems like a reasonable request for a 16th b-day present, help provide some arguments.

>Wont use computer as much
>>Smaller than laptop

Well, of course tell them that you haven't gotten a laptop since 2006.
can't think of anything else

The other thing is, if I get one, my parents will use it as leverage.

Example: I get a C on a test or something and it drops my grade down. They take away the Ipad for who knows how long.

They do this for everything, with my xbox, with my computer, and...well that's about everything I have. So...after that I can't hang out with friends or do anything social. But I don't do that poorly usually. There's the occasional bad grade though, like anyone would have.
