Author Topic: Steam/Left 4 Dead 2 error (Read 2244 times)

While trying to launch Left 4 Dead 2, Steam wants to validate the files. This isn't bad because it happens with some games.

When the "Validating Steam files" box is at 0%, it jumps to 100% and then i get an error box.
It has been this way for a few days and certainly isn't stopping. Can anyone help me on this?

I have never had this error anytime before this. I tried to do it when there where fewer people on.

This happened to me once and I contacted Steam support and they told me to delete the L4D2 files that were in my SteamApps folder and then I was able to play it without the "Steam servers too busy at this moment" error message.

The common files? Or the .gcf files?

Wait, are you trying to play it, install it, or validate its files? Because you may need to reinstall it.

Also, search the problem in the steam support database.

Have you tried deleting everything in Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2 except for the left4dead2 and the DLC folders? It fixed the error for me when I validated after that.

I have deleted everything in common except for:
left4dead2
left4dead2_dlc1
left4dead2_dlc2
left4dead2_dlc3
Still not working.

Reinstall as in redownload it?

Redownload, reinstall

same thing

just delete the l4d2
and install it again
simple

Ok new problem:
I have deleted the games files, but it won't re-download.
It treats it as an update, but nothing downloads and it doesn't show up in the downloads section.
Please help
