When you take that save you tell the others what cubes you want to work in.

YOU NEVER LEAVE YOUR CUBE FOR THE NEXT REASON
Once done, or whenever, you load the saves from all the participants thus having the whole thing come together.

I see. Perhaps, I always like laying out the area, assigning different parts to work on, and making it all blend together so you see the product as it's going together, making edits smoother and lower in number because you already have other builds to work against.
