Author Topic: Which Graphic Card should I get?  (Read 2536 times)

The Q6600 is fine for gaming. I'm going to assume that Steve thought it was a dual-core or something because he usually tends to make sense.
A Core 2 Quad is fine for gaming.

I know a friend who has it with a GTX460 and 4GB of RAM, he plays games nicely.

I also have a GTX460.  Handles games very nicely, one day I hope to buy another though.

If I had the money to get a Core 2 Quad and a GTX460 I would have done for it.

If I had the money to get TWO GTX460s and a Core 2 Quad, I would go for it.

sli only really increases performance x1.5 to be honest though.

The SLI performance increase varies.  It can sometimes be 1.8x or 1.4x, somewhere there.

I'm reading the last few posts and saying "wtf are they talking about" in my head, yeah, I'm not very Hardcore with what goes on inside of my computer, I just like games :P

But anyways, do you guys think my computer will be fine handling a new card?
(Probably the 460, that's what the votes tend to lean on)

Yeah, I will say, though, SLI works a lot better than having only one card of a certain type.

It's just too expensive

ive never been a fan of multiple video cards, a person would be better off buying the multi'core video card in that series instead.

you usually have to have a massive power supply for them, and really really watch that heat carefully, just for that tiny tiny bit of extra performance that just isn't worth it.

Now that I think about it...

my PSU max wattage is 700W and I had two graphics cards that both use up to 400W. ._.'

Not many cards use up to 400w. If your talking about the GTX 460 then that only uses like 200w. Scaling with the 460 is very, very good. It's about 1.8.

What is the cheapest PC that can run games like CoD4 spec wise?
