Author Topic: How do fans cool us down?  (Read 788 times)

How do fans make the room feel colder when they're just blowing the hot air around? I know random question, random topic, but it's not as bad as that one about cheese.

They actually don't, it just makes you even hotter when it stops blowing air.

Yes but when it's blowing directly at you, you feel a little cooler even though really it should be making the room warmer.

Because it's wind.

it pushes hot air out of the way :cookieMonster:

It's quite simple really, the fan produces cold particles that cancel out all of the hot Particles on your body

Beacuse the air is getting cooler as it comes to you.

Fans do not cool the room you are in, what they actually do is circulate the air over your body, which evaporates your sweat faster. Liquid needs to absorb more heat to change from liquid to vapor. So when you sweat evaporates, it takes away heat from your body, which makes you feel cooler.
