Author Topic: New laptop.  (Read 695 times)

Alright, some of you may remember me making a topic about wanting to build a PC a couple months back.
Well, I use my games on the go more than I do at home, so a laptop would be a better choice. I want one that can handle extremely high end graphic games like Crysis 2. I need suggestions for excellent gaming laptops for not a lot of money.

I am interested in the alienware 14", but I want to see if there are better offers out there.

Alienware is poop, and way too expensive.
I get HP media laptops for gaming.

If I can get:
 - 1 GB ATI graphics
 - four core i7 2 GHz
 - 750 GB ram lol not ram, HDD
 - 8 GB RAM
 - webcam
 - dual microphone array
 - fingerprint scanner
 - too much free HP software
 - 3 year warranty
on a 15+ inch laptop for under a thousand dollars,
Boom.

It handles all of my games perfectly, although it gets pretty hot after two hours of portal 2.

It's A ok for me if it can even RUN portal 2. I bought the game, but apparently canirunit.com is a liar.
In any case, do those specs work for a lot of the games coming out as of late?

Fingerprint Scanner?

lolwow

Oh, nevermind, I didnt look carefully at those specs.

Thats really good for under a thousand.

Can I get a direct link to the one you have or the one you are reccomending.

It's the hp pavilion dv6 second generation
I got it from costco, and they throw in some of the special features for free, but now it is out of stock permanently.

If you get it directly from HP, some of the upgrades cost a little extra
link

It says 5.5 hours of battery life, but they lie.  Unless you are on power save mode, it's more like 3 if you are lucky, and much less if you are playing games.
I got mine without the numpad, and a larger keyboard, but I dont think they offer that anymore.
Keep in mind that this link is to a series of laptops, and I'm not sure if this is the exact model.

Edit: battery life above

I know that Nexus will probably be all like "OGM NO ALIENWARE!" but I'd recommend the Alienware M11x.

It's ~$1000, and can do gaming for several hours. I played Portal 2 on it for 3 hours on the battery. When I'm just browsing the internet, I get up to 8-9 hours of battery life.

Though, it isn't the most high-end computer out there (probably doesn't play Crysis 2 on max), but it is a good laptop that combines gaming and usability.

Also, if you really don't need a laptop (if you're not going to be going anywhere all the time), don't get a laptop. They're generally not made for gaming, and you can build an awesome desktop PC for the money.

OGM NO ALIENWARE

Thanks for baselessly making me sound like an idiot. although i would probably say exactly that lol

I have an uncle that buys all alienware computers, and they work great, but I feel like you are paying alot for the bragging rights of having an alienware computer.  I like hp computers because they also come with an unbelievable amount of free software, probably totaling 300 dollars worth of software.

but I feel like you are paying alot for the bragging rights of having an alienware computer.

Trust me, that's what Apple's for.

You're right on the money.
