First off, look toward Newegg to get most of your stuff.
Make sure all your parts are compatible and you don't bottleneck anything.
Then put it together correctly, install OS, install drivers, buy games, install them, etc and your set.

300 on a ps3 and 1,000 on a decent PC that plays decent enough games. Does he really need to spend thousands just to play something like crysis only to throw it away when he finished it, that is absurd.

Because all the focus went to graphics. I've played games with horrible graphics but they had a top notch story and in the end that's all that counts.
