Author Topic: question about resolutions  (Read 468 times)

okay. my TV is being used as a monitor for my laptop - it supports up to 1080p, but when I try to change my resolution to 1920 x 1080, the highest it will allow me to set it to is 1360 x 768

help? not sure what I'm doing here :(

So it's not truly 1080p, or your laptop can't support HD.

it works at 1080p with my xbox. I believe the laptop is the problem, yes. it's very old ..

Yeah, there's no way an old GPU would support 1080p.
768p isn't too bad anyway.

buy an LCD montior for 70$.
I use my tv only when i want to watch movies off my hard drive in HD.
My monitor cant do HD.

If the laptop is that old then it probably wasn't made when 1080p was reachable by consumers.

I wish I had a 1080p monitor :(

agreeing with both these points. it looks great so far. much better than my 4:3 resolution I had 20 minutes ago!

it's ancient.
and 1080p looks beautiful for movies (I imagine gaming, too!). I have a huge TV in my living room and it looks fantastic. definitely buy one if you have the chance.
