Author Topic: Getting started with modeling  (Read 899 times)

So ive been wanting to get started with 3D Modeling, this isnt a "How to model!" thread, im just wanting to know where to get started.

Ive tried, but I cant get the hang of programs such as blender.

Can someone link me to some good tutorials or inspiration?

Just learn the shortcut keys for blender and your set. I always thought blender was easy to learn.

Sketchup is free
start with downloading something
Or get the milkshape trial. Milkshape is easier than blender, IMO
or you can buy milkshape

Frozen, if you are in high school, go for 3DS Max, it's extremely easy to learn.

And its free for students as long as you have a student email account!

Wrong. You need to have an E-mail, not student E-mail, otherwise I would not have it.

use blender it might take longer to grasp but what it can do is worth it

Download Blender, open it up and slap yourself in the face to man up and not chicken away from the complex-by-first-look interface. Once get your head around to where everything is it's easy.

I started with Blender, there are some decent tutorials for beginners on youtube (Super3Boy's).
It'll take you awhile to get used to the interface of a new 3D modelling program but once you get past that you can let your imagination guide you.

I've recently started to move on to a new 3D modelling program called Lightwave, haven't quite gotten the hang of it yet.

I like Sketchup, but I also like Milkshape.

I'd like Blender if I could figure out how to use it.

Ugh. Super3Boy.
I watched his videos when he was 7.
Now i watch his videos when hes 14, and he sounds the same.
Annoying.

I agree.

Blender Rocks! Get Blender 2.58, and here are some good places to start learning.

I use Blender for a few reasons, the first being it is free. It is extremely powerful, it takes a while to figure out, but it is well worth it and helps you in the long run! Hope this helped!

One last thing... Here are my tutorials, their not the best, but hopefuly they will help you.
