Author Topic: forget it, i might as well buy a HD6970.  (Read 1393 times)

As long as your power supply can handle it, go for it.The forget? The Sandy Bridge i5 is brand new.

Yup, brand new sandybridge, probably one of the best one's, arent sandybridge 2nd gen?

Just go more in-depth for that, its not because its not optimized for the computer its not optimized for your computers build, IE hardware. As a game developer its incredibly hard to make your games work well on every type of setup.

It's not a problem that I care much about.

Yes, there is the argument that not every computer is optimised to play it however it's the game developer's priority to ensure a good gameplay experience. To have lag is to have failure on the side of the developers.

(best example is Ship sim Ex)

Anyway

I'm not sure about the performance with two 6870s if you want I can give you a 3DMark result or my Windows 7 score which is 7.5 out of 7.9

Okay, so i'll buy a 6870, not two but one, i dont think my 650W power can handle.

If you have the money, buy better.

Let's just say i'm planning to get this in 4 months, £200ish.

I'm buying a 6870 now.
Your power supply didn't have an 8-pin and a 6-pin PCIe connector? Because regarding the wattage it's powerful enough.

One card is £140 so it's £280 then 280x1.63=$456.4

And one is £140x1.63=$228.2
63% tax?
You must be joking.

650W power supply. 2x6-pin, and 2x8-pin.

You should be able to handle with a 650W power supply. The 6970 takes 450W, so I dont think the 6870 would take much more.

I already have a 650W

Then why can't your computer handle a Radeon 6970?
