Ok, so I'm planning on making some add-ons in the future but I have no modeling experience. Anybody know of any modeling program out there suited for a beginner?

(P.S. Sorry for my inability to think up a title.)

Wrong section. Vague question.

Google Sketch-Up / Wings 3D. Both are free, but both need to be exported to another program that has a .dts exporter.

Edit:

Nope. It's the right section.

I've actually seen you around a lot. A good modelling program for a beginner would be Wings3d or Milkshape. Blender if you are willing to exert a large amount of time learning the controls.

I should add a poll...

They all sound good but I want to hear more.

Bump

(Still need more ideas and convincing comments.)

Depends on your skill level. Experiment with them.

Blender, Milkshape 3D, Wings3D, and Sketchup are the generally suggested programs.

Blender is free, but generally considered to be difficult to learn. There are wikibooks, and tutorials that may prove useful in learning to simply use the program.
Milkshape 3D is not free ($35), but is generally considered easy to learn. Both of these programs have the required .DTS exporter plugin.

Wings 3D is free and, in my opinion, simple to use.
I don't know if Sketchup is free, I don't know how simple it is to use, and I personally would never recommend it. These programs do not have a .dts exporter plugin, you have to export the file to something you can import into either Blender or Milkshape.

I personally use a mixture of Blender and Milkshape 3D. I originally started out with Milkshape, later started to use Wings3D, then after figuring out Blender I started using it.

I found Blender a lot easier to learn than Milkshape.
I think a lot of people just look at the UI and are overwhelmed without trying much.
