Author Topic: Looking for a new Graphics Card on NewEgg  (Read 1080 times)

Ok so If I change out my PSU and add that card I don't have to worry about any other components getting fried by the new power supply?
Not at all.
Components only take as much as they can handle.
Just make sure you plug everything in like it was (the new Graphics card will however need extra).
An easy way for a first time PSU swap is to take the old unit out, put the new one in, while leaving the old unit connected to everything. Then one by one match power plugs and swap them over, then you're left with the old unit in your hand, free of your system.

Ohhh this is going to be a hard decision.

I can't PM, sorry.

Uh, what wattage/brand is your current PSU? You're gonna have to open your case and check.
Most prebuilts have around 300w, and a really crappy brand. If that's the case, then you will fry your new card and possibly your whole system if you put it in without a higher PSU.

I see, I'll take a look in a little.

This wasn't Prebuilt BTW, everything was picked out by a friend before I got this computer. But I guess in the case that it was made by my buddy before it was given to me, it was pre built in a sense.
