my computer screen finally borked on me a couple weeks ago. since then I've been using an external screen from the small bunch my dad had (he's selling a few moniters, a couple computers, and a couple keyboards for a client) in the garage. eventually (a couple days ago) my computer decided to say "LOL NOP U CAN TLOG IN NBOOB" and now I'm working with my dad to somehow fix it.
THE SOLUTION
we can boot the computer up, and once it turns on, we hold F8 and run it in Safe Mode so my dad can access the computer and start a new profile, letting me log into that one, and keeping all the files I currently have on the old computer.
THE PROBLEM WITH THAT SOLUTION DOOOOOOOHOHO CONTRADICTION, MUCH?
the external screen doesnt recieve the input from the laptop until the laptop is about to hit the log-on screen, so we cant do anything (find Safe Mode and hit Enter on it) until we can see the screen, which, again, doesnt turn on until we hit the log-on screen.
so me and dad have almost identical computers, but they arent EXACTLY the same when it comes to the set-up stuff, like finding Safe Mode, so we cant just look how many times to hit down and hit enter on my dad's computer, since the options arent sorted the same on both computers.
I have a Compaq Precario CQ70. anyone got any ideas?
