Author Topic: So I have been planning to build a computer for a while and need advise.  (Read 1240 times)

For 10 dollars more the one I recommended is quite a bit better. I'd recommend it.

That is a lot better. You should buy that.

nothing wrong with prebuilt.

this comp is the 1 current gaming+featured sale, within your price range. (one of newegg's specials that come and go)

Thanks, I am going to go with this one (And add the SSD on top of it after getting the rebates)

OP: That is possibly the worst balanced build ever and has really bad specs.

This is about 5x as good as the other build. With this you will be able to max every source game (l4d, tf2, C:SS, etc.) and play all of the other games on high.
Very nice, my only concern is that I don't know if 430W 80+ is enough for a 6870. Recommended minimum is 500W, but I do know you can go about 100W under any recommendation if it's good quality. Thoughts?

Anyway, OP, don't forget operating system. If you don't already have a copy of Windows 7/Windows Vista to install, then I can get you a good build set up for $450 + $100 for Windows 7. Just ask :)

Why are you so adamant on getting a SSD? They are only really required of builds $1000 and up, and quite frankly it would be stupid to get one with your build.

I thought about that too, but tom's hardware used the same power supply with a very similar build so I figure it should be fine.

Don't get an ssd. It is completely useless to you and will only complicate things more.

Alright, that would be helpful. I've never built a computer before (Let alone buy parts for one).

I suppose I'll drop the SSD

Why not just save your money?
You could probably save 300 dollars and have twice as good as a computer.

My parents won't allow me to spend more than that despite saving up more (Because I actually have more money than that).

Buy a pickaxe, let it do the talking for you.
