I don't think that's what he's doing, it looks like he's genuinely repenting for his previous behavior. In my eyes, that takes some serious balls. Especially here, since this place is home to thickheaded jackasses like Skorpion who are convinced that you should keep making a stand on broken ground. But forget him.
However, as IcyGamma said, it would be better to actually apologize for your actions before everyone sort of forgets them.
