Author Topic: I must vent about Sony/LucasArts' Blatant Bullstuff  (Read 758 times)

So, as you may or may not know, the MMORPG Star Wars Galaxies is shutting down, effective December 15th.

I loved this game. I played all the time. (I played F2P, but that's beside the point.)

You know how, when games are about to die, they give everything in the game free? I love when they do that. Everyone can do whatever, enjoy the rest of the game for what it is for one last great moment.

BUT... NOOOOO.

I went to play again for one last time before it shuts down. I wanted to say goodbye to what seemed like an old friend.

I needed to update the game, so I clicked the update button. Nothing happened.

I looked down, and it says, "You must be a paid subscriber to continue."

ARE YOU loving KIDDING ME!?!?

YOU'RE SHUTTING DOWN,
and you are trying to get MORE money!?
You want people to dump MORE money into something that is going to die in 2 months!?

THIS IS BULLstuff!

/rant

I remember buying the game and installing, but lagging like a bitch because my computer was a piece of stuff. :cookieMonster:

This is the story every time I dl a game :c

There's always SWEMU.

Although it isn't quite finished yet IIRC, And they ban you if you're using a Steam copy for some reason.

IIRC If you use SWEMU with a copy of SWG bought from Steam and they find out the SWEMU devs will ban you.

i remember star wars galaxies
i was a wookie jedi i think and i got pretty far but eventually stopped playing
i remember some christmas event as well

Are you sure they're shutting it down and just not asking for subscriptions?

Thats why I never play games run by a service. One, for the fee attached. Two, the fine print that states they maintain the right to cancel online service without warning.

No, they're definitely shutting it down.
