Setting up Lan? (Not BL)

I think its Start/My Network Places/ and there should be a folder that the 2 computers connect with. I'm not 100% sure because I don't have mine any more and I made a shortcut on the desktop.

Well, there is nothing there, and if I try to create a network place, it asks me for some sort of address, what do I put in there?
Don't tell me the IP address of my other computer, because both of those have a dynamic IP.
