Author Topic: What is this "Return To The Battlefield!" thing?  (Read 1020 times)

I was bored, I browsed the forums, saw a couple of golden block posts, went on BL, went to slate, spawned, spawned a vehicle, drove, and in less than 20 seconds it says "Return to the Battlefield! in 5"   "4"    "3"    "2"    "1"... Boom. It killed me.
Had this happen to you?

It's an addon. I forgot the name, though.

This.

The first experience I have had with this is Star Wars Battlefront, lol...

It's the Boundary mod, by Boom. Not the best, it apparently doesn't even check if you're in a minigame.

Beat me to it.

You should be able to disable it in Server Preferences.

You have too many add-ons if you forget what all of them do.

Why would it check if you're in a mini-game? It does not need that preference, adjusting its size and shape is enough.

I think the actual dialog used is based of... Reach? I thought I saw it in a Halo game before written almost exactly like that, but it could easily be used in another game nearly the same.

It's really good for minigames with open boundaries.

QFT. It sounds like you downloaded this without really thinking about it. I know because I did the same thing.

Typically this would only be used in a server-wide minigame scenario, and can be disabled outside of that.

Personally I'd prefer to use zone cubes, so I can define the precise shape and exactly how it handles it.

I never really understood how zone cubes work.

I always hated Zone Bricks. I made Zone Events, and Trader got it failed for extending outside of the brick. Then he told me to make it a brick, and besides the problem of building inside the entire thing, I couldn't figure out a simple way to link Zone Brick cubes with similar events and gave up. I left BL for a while, and when I came back, Zone Bricks were commonplace... Stole the idea I was being forced to make against my original idea... :(

onPlayerEnterZone etc. => yadda yadda yadda?

Unless something's changed since I last used them, it seems pretty self-explanatory.

sorry to hear that. I never really got used to the zone events, but from the one or two practice experiments they seemed okay.
