Author Topic: Fix regarding RTBv4 installation  (Read 913 times)

For all of you having an installation issue with RTB4, I have solved it.

When you have DL'd your RTB4, it might be named:
Quote
System_ReturnToBlockland(1)
It has the (1) After it if you have the old v3, which is still named
Quote
System_ReturnToBlockland

How to fix it:
Rename the RTB4 and get rid of the (1) at the end. This will make it so that it can be found correctly.
Then, go to
Quote
(Username)>Documents>Blockland
DO NOT OPEN THE ADD-ONS FOLDER.
Drag your RTB4 into your Add-Ons folder, but remember, Do not open it.

That should be it.

I had this problem with the automatic update or something. Somehow, the file got renamed like that and messed up. Was like a month or so ago, though, so I don't remember the details.

Or just delete RTB 3 before installing 4? Am I missing something?

The autoupdater would create a (1) file instead of overwriting, and since it did try to update, you wouldn't suspect this happened unless you got tired of it and checked in the folder. It's not like we immediately realize the game forgeted up like this.

So this helped?

The RTB auto-updater doesn't do anything with this (1) crap. RTB just tries to replace System_ReturnToBlockland.zip with the new version - if it's ending up named (1) then your OS is doing something.

I believe newer Windows OSes have better file detection, but it forgets with BL. The OS sees there is already a System_ReturnToBlockland.zip and makes your update save as (1). In this case, you would still need to help us since this is an OS default. Something like turning that off, or an ingame code fix.

Huh. Well, it only worked when I did that, so, I dunno what to say about that. It just worked.

This is a terrible idea.

You just love to oppose every single thing he ever suggests.

He didn't post a suggestion

This is a terrible idea.

What part of that was an idea? It was a statement, and a request for help.
