Author Topic: Default Builds being "Bumped"  (Read 2292 times)

Cant get rid of Default Builds, cant get rid of Default Screenshots, cant edit brick textures, cant edit default terrain textures, cant edit default CIs, cant edit any default textures or images, and it bumps all the default builds to the top of my list each time I open Blockland.

The point where it takes away fun and useful customization like that is where I draw a line. Give me the option to restore defaults when I want to, not each time I open the game.

It can still be "Idiot Proof" and retain some form of customization.
Sounds agreeable seeing as this is how I found out the texture packs for bricks don't work, and without having Squideey's better textures its just bleh.
And I always thought the update thing was pointless cause at first I thought it was just a fancy Opening up Blockland program, instead it updated small stuff and now it rekicks everything back into Blockland.

Or you could just make an add-on.

EDIT: But I do agree it's a bit silly to make it so you can't get rid of default screenshots.

@Demian (I think?)

-profilePath is what I am currently using. It does not entirely fix the issue, though, because I still need to be careful not to open the launcher, ever. More of a pain in the ass than it seems.

Perhaps the installation directory could be chosen during install. Like most programs, he could have an "idiot proof" install that does everything default, and then a "custom" install option that lets people pick a directory etc.

Or, you know, instead of having all the default stuff (Textures, Builds, Screenshots exclusively) re-booted through the launcher to "Idiot Proof" the dame so default stuff isn't lost, just have a Repair.exe that, when run, restores all defaults, tucked into the game folder.

Whatta' sentence.

Code: [Select]
G:\Blockland\Launcher.exe -profilePath "G:\Blockland"Works fine for me.

I'm all for the Repair Function being an executable file... but to be "idiot-proof" this isn't possible.  Idiots can't find Obvious-Game-Is-Obvious in their My Documents folder.

I want them OUT of my game folder as well, but Badspot has apparantly lost respect for everyone and decided it's best to make us suffer for the moronic 5 year-old children who join the game.

Can't you just set the save files to Read Only like custom brick textures?

and that lame crosshair....

...but if we did this, they'd STILL BE THERE!!!!    FADSDGSD!!!

Why would you delete default screenshots or saves? I had no idea that they could cause any harm at all.

I believe Blockland rewrites most of the default files each startup. That's why it's always Writing Files.

They don't cause harm, it just annoying to have them there when you diddnt build them/take the screenshot. If I buy a building game, I don't want other builds and screenshots invading my creations being constantly bumped and re-downloaded by the game itself.

The screenshots, yea. I guess I could make them read only to get rid of them.
But for builds its another story. I know there there as a place holder and an example for new builders to take after, but when you have as long as I have, they become obsolete.

I want the freedom to take them away if I wish it.
