How to make 8bit-esque music?

As the title says, I would very much like to make some 8bit music, a lot like this song. I, unfortunately, have no idea how to go about this.

I call upon you, forums, to help me achieve my DREAM!

eg: plugins, a basic bare-bones music software, even a sequencer is good.
