Author Topic: Bedroom Third-Person Glitch  (Read 1574 times)

In the Bedroom, if one were to go into third person at just the right angle, it would clip the camera just far in enough that it fails to show part of the wall, but not far in enough that it would show the skybox and/or outside terrain. This has no ill effects on the game but creates an interesting effect similar to having no player. The difference is that this glitch is contained to a section of the screen.

Unintentionally discovered on Pecon7's server. Discuss.

This is what happens when the game renders nothing on a part of or all of the screen. Putting your camera in certain positions and not being in control of an existing object are two ways of triggering this.

Setting the fog color to null will also cause this.

Once I shut my laptop and opened it back up to see a bunch of funky inverted bedsheets and light shades all textures (or most) were swapped with those from a different map or something :P

Well, that's interesting.

Hold shift and the walk key while in admin orb, then move very slowly into the walls/floor/ceiling and you will experience this.

I'm pleasantly surprised no one replied "hey stop that i contorling this".

...oh, wait, crap. :cookieMonster:

It's just a Hall of Mirrors. No big deal, there are a lot of games that do this.

Just about every 3D game does that. Nothing special.

This. In my long journey of gaming, I have so far experienced things like this in multiple games built on the following engines:
  • Torque Game Engine
  • Torque 3D
  • Source
  • Cry Engine 2
  • Cube 2
  • id Tech 3
  • Chrome Engine

This is way too common. IMHO, hardware is way too good for not filling screen with black before a frame.
