Depends on whats truly wrong with it; its a bit hard to tell without been able to see it.If the sensor has broken, i can't imagine that will be coming cheep, i know some lenses are £800 for element repairs. Could end up been around 50% + of initial cost if thats truly messed up.If it took a knock, its possible a connection came loose which i can't think they will charge you much for it.although it is entirely possible that the mirror has got something in the motor and has jammed, or there is a firmware issue with it.Can you see though the viewfinder?
I can see through the viewfinder nice and clear, also my camera was only $650 with the lens.
humm, if its a budget range camera i can't think additional components are hugely expensive. Have you tried updating the firmware to see if its a software issue?Has the camera taken any massive knocks recently and how old is it?
Is the viewfinder through the lens or separate?
through the lens
humm, i take you can here the mirror slap when you take a shot. And is it also totally black on the 'live view' mode?
Yah, its most probably a connect to or at the sensor, unless you know what your doing with checking it.Take it to a camera shop
