I would like to know if anyone would mind teaching me how to build items and vehicles.

This is something I would enjoy.

Pay errrrr.......

For your future Pay question people, im hoping you will do this out of your generosity.

 :panda:

Do you mean how to create items and vehicles?
That would include choosing a program you like to work with best, certain people can teach you on diff programs.
I suggest first finding a program your comfortable with.
Than learn how to model in that program.
After that someone would have to teach you how to place joints and work milkshape in general.
Milkshape is not free, and will cost money.
After all of that, you will also have to be taught how to script.

That's quite a lot of work your asking for, if anyone is up to it, good luck is all I have to say.

teaching your self is probally the easiest way, you learn when you want, stop when you want and you can really do what you want.

Ok I see so erm, what programs would you suggest?

ALso does anything change for map making?

Not really, the only things that you could be taught at is how to work the mission editor, and how to work milkshape, the rest I suggest you figure out by yourself.
A program depends on how you like creating models the best, I like working with the mesh more and getting to create, if you like doing that, I can suggest either Anim8or, or Wings3D.
Other programs, such as blender, there is more clicking buttons than actually working with the mesh.
It all depends on your style.
Same goes for map making programs.
I would recommend Hammer though, pretty easy to use, the only hassle is making wads for textures.

Well would anyone mind telling me what milkshape is, oh and do you have to pay for wings3D?  It looks like the program for me

Every item/vehicle has a script associated with it, they're in the add-ons folder. The best way to learn how to make new items/vehicles is by taking a look at some of the existing scripts. Scripts are plain-text files, which means you can open/save them with notepad. Most items/vehicles require a model, torque uses DTS models. There are a couple of DTS exporters, but I'd recommend milkshape3d. It requires some practice though. There are plenty of tutorials on making weapons and vehicles, search the forums/google. Also, keep in mind that blockland is made using the torque game engine, so script you find for TGE will most likely also work in blockland.

Milkshape is a modeling program that is capable of exporting and importing a wide range of files, and is also capable of placing joints, which indicate where the player will sit, hold a weapon,  where the weapon fires, or where the wheels are.
If I remember correctly, Blender is capable of doing all of that too, and is free.
Milkshape isn't free.
And yes Wings3D is free, takes some time getting used to.
I believe programs like wings3D use box modeling, I may be wrong.

I was joking about the pay stuff. ;)

I was joking about the pay stuff. ;)

I wasnt..
even though i didnt say anything.
Oh well.

Well which is best Milkshape or Blender?

I checked out the websites they have, and it looks like milkshape is you more for games, but Blender looks really nice, but then again, almost anything free looks better.  Alot of neat stuff though.
