Author Topic: Help with brick making anyone?  (Read 2047 times)

Hey guys, It's a-me.

I have a problem here, I need to know how to:

• Give textures to bricks properly
• How should I name the MATERIAL part of the model
• How do I convert it into a brick

The model is already made, and the screenshot is below.

You would need 3ds to blb to convert it, and even then it has to be fixed up some more.

The thing about making bricks is that it's usually done through text, not a modeling program(only for some really complicated stuff).

Destiny has a BLB editor that allows you to see the brick you are making.

Soba says it takes a while to figure out how to do it, and I believe him.

I took a look at it myself, and I do believe that you have to place down every vertex for that brick in the blb. file, then you have to specify the collision areas.

Hey, but what if I copy all the Vertex Positions from the model? Or that won't work... (Values to TXT)

FOR ANYONE WISHING TO GET DEEP INTO THE EDITOR, This is how I make my bricks

I made this template, this is the exact size of a 1x1F brick ingame upon converting it from the stanford .ply to .blb

And this is how I generate my brick sizes and what-not

(Zack0Wack0 said that he trusted me not to give out the link, but what for? I'd love to see more creative bricks in blockland, and this is just the thing to get you started)

if someone loses the .exe and wants it back, PM me for the link

I use a program called Ultra Edit that allows you to use the ctrl+H find and replace in notepad and target multiple lines, useful for replacing the UV coords

not a full-on explanation, but it should help

Thanks for helping!

But damn, Blender sure is confusing.
It's camera movements make me sick

uhhh... could you possibly send me the Milkshape version?

Hate to be that guy, but that thing looks awfully high-poly.

Actually, it's not. The picture is just Smooth-Shaded.

no milkshape version, bricks use quads, milkshape uses triangles only
